That is a speckled trout. Way to small to keep.Hope ya let it go. That's what I thought from the get-go, a sea trout. Just had to double check. As I recall it didn't have that narrow shape like a mack but my buddy kept squirming as much as the fish. Yes, it was released of course.

A mackerel has a forked tail and a sea trout has tail with an even edge.
