Found them easy pickins all up and down South pier Saturday morning. North Pier was a ghost town. Blacked out the live well in no time, with Scaled Sardines, Cigar minnows, Blue Runners, and Threadfins. #6 gold hooks tied sabiki style ( tip with squid for nice fat Pinfish also) Spanny Macks were everywhere. Bait schools thick and deep. Pointed boat west to the whistler buoy, first stop 2 scout Kings about 15 pounds Swing and a miss boatside on a Smoker about 50 inches to pulled hooks. Moved on out to 80 feet in the vicinity of a shrimp boat wreck and boxed two more big Kingfish 2 keeper Red Grouper and an unexpected bonus 2 Keeper Amberjack just over the legal limit of 30 inches from a school who decided to destroy our Kingfish spread. Non stop action for 2 hours, and the current died with the bite. Prepared to head to our planned destination for the day, the sunken 200 foot Phosphate Barge, "Mexican Pride", and everyone on boards heart sank when the motor would'nt start. Now I don't know how many of you have experienced that stark realization that you cant see land and you are stuck, but it aint perrty! Lol Finally got her runnin and decided the "Pride" would have to wait till another day. Limped in to Oniels Marina with a respectable box of 5 Kingfish, 2Aajs, and 2 Red Grouper. not a great day considering the boat trouble, but all in all not a bad day either. Spring is here folks! Fish On!
