i was wondering if an 18ft telescopic alum pole would be enough to catch crabs on nsp ? or is it have to be 22ft? do i need any type of flash light to see them coming? im actually planing on going crabbing for the first time sometime nxt wk any suggestion or advice to help me prepare myself would be appreciative ..thanks in advance..

18ft should work , but 22 is better to reach from side to side. The best and brightest light you can get will help you see them coming and get into position. Be prepared to battle others scrambling around for position. To me its not fun, but it all depends on how many are out there. I once had someone stick the back end of his pole through my car window as I was driving by. This was when the East side part of the pier was still there.

Some times when its crowded and the tide is ripping it works better in my opinion to throw a small 4' wallyworld cast net on em. imho
it can be a pain getting them out sometimes but you wont miss as many bigns or lose them to other crabbers because of the extended reach. just takes a little practice.
