Hey guys,
I was thinking about doing some blue crabbing with a net at low tide in the flats areas and was wondering if anyone else here has ever done it before. It is my first time out trying and thought it looked like a fun time with some good eating rewards. I have seen many people at Fort Desoto crabbing and having a good time.
Just looking for any tips to make the catch easier, and any tips on cooking methods that you enjoy.
Thanks for your tips!

from a small pier, i found the best way is to tie string to a piece of chicken and throw it out about 20' or whatever. u should see the line get tight , then pull it in VERY VERY VERY slow. have a net in the water ready to scoop it up.works alot better than the little foldup traps..and sometimes you need a small sinker cause the chicken will statr to float .

Went out to Ft. Soto today for some blue crab and a little fishing. Caught 22 blue crabs (all male) using a landing net, some patience, and my itunes on the ipod. Went out at low tide so it was easy to see in the sea grass. After crabbing I did a little fishing on the flats. The trout were biting well but the two keeper size fish spit the hook both times as I was getting my net ready to land. Both were hogs. Caught and released 12 undersized trout and 1 flounder just under limit. Had a blast today!
