The project will remove public access to structurally unsafe portions of the piers. Crews will begin removing light poles and fencing on June 20. The demolition of the spans will begin in early July. Crews on floating barges will perform most of the work. The project also includes renovations at the restroom crossovers and bait shop. The bait shops on the North and South Piers will remain open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week during the project. Crews will complete the project in the spring of next year. Work will not take place on Saturdays and Sundays. The piers are located at the north and south entrances to the Bob Graham Sunshins Skyway Bridge. The North Pier is in Pinellas County and the South Pier is in Manatee County.
