Hello JMFISHIN,
I grew up in Venice and there's good fishing around casey key. On the North end is Blackburn Point Road, There is an old "Flying Bridge" there, good fishing around it. South access is via Albee Road. there is a seawall on the west side of intercoastal, good for Pompano, Ladyfish,Jacks. make a left on Casey Key road and it deadends into the "North Jetty", you can see my favorite spot from there the "South Jetty"......

From albee rd it's maybe a 10 minute drive to Venice Jetty. Right now there's snook on the chew in the AM. Bring some small gold hooks and catch a few pinfish at the beginning of the jettythen go soak them along the last 1/4 of the jetty.
Shark fishing is very good from the Venice peir in the south all the way up to siesta key. locals use ballons or even garbage bags to float out their baits. quite a few people will fish through the nite on the peir for sharks as well (they are trying to ban shark fishing there).
I should be down there this weekend for my nephews graduation maybe I will see you out there.
Tony

Word from the bird is SNUKE! Big Ole badass mama Snuke. Theyre in and adjacent to all the passes and inlets, and theyre hungry. But they aint stupid! BIG live baits get the nod. Ladyfish cant be beat. Big Horseminners run a close second. The night bite is hot at Nakomis Venice Inlet all the way down to Captiva and Boca Grande. Stump Pass in Englewood and Matlatchka Pass at Pine Island are boomin if ya feel like drivin. You know the drill... Get you a big live bait and free line that sucker till mama homes in on it. Use heavy tackle. No sense bear huntin with a stick. If by chance your Ladyfish doesnt get ate and dies save it on ice and pin the head on the bottom in the surf on the tide change for the lazy girls. She'll be tailwalkin for ya in no time. Tarpon are pickin up to. Blacktips galore at Boca Grande.

thanks for the replies. thursday morning. tried the n jetty.not much going on that day. just some small stuff. saw some tarpon close to the s jetty. then seen a bunch of them further away..tries some jigs, gulp, spoons for macs, and the infant shrimp that the bait shop on the jetty sold me. they are rude as hell there too. as he was getting my tiny shrimp, i said, do u have any frozen bait?. he tells me ya, but were closing, gotta come back tomorrow. better off going across the little bridge there to the good bait shop. friday i came prepared with some nice shrimp. caught 2 ok snook almost at the end of n jetty on the right. there are SO MANY SNOOK THERE. you can cast to a snook every time if you want to. theres just laying all threw the rocks. i didnt see many biggins though. i was swimmin the shrimp up n down & in n out of the bolders. then i tried the end for some snapps. got a few 12"ers then a nice one that was almost 16".he was tough gettin out of the rocks. after that, i pulled a 16" sheep on a big shrimp.had a couple shots at some tarpon . but no takers. saw a few nice snapper and a few snook come up also. i took the two bigger fish, and cooked them on the gril.if i can figure out how to post pics again, ill put them up. c~ya
