Had a couple hours to kill late this afternoon. Weather was unbelievable for this time of yr so grabbed my rods & tackle box, bought doz shrimp & hit the causeway. Just getting out, know what I mean? Caught a silver dollar size pinner (trout candy) & tossed it out under a cork. The ladyfish from hell hit it & jumped 4 times before I landed it ( 25 in. ). Cut it up & threw out a bunch of it for chum. Put a nice chunk on w/ free line. Got hit w/in 10 seconds & cut rite off. Mack or shark. 20 lb. leader w/ 10 lb line. Re-tie w/ same & toss again. Nadda for 10 min. Free line cut bait, shrimp under a cork & DOA w/ popping court. All 3 get hit in milli-seconds. Couple kids that were hanging around grabbed 2 rods I had in holders. We got 3 reds 19", 20 1/4" & 25". People about 30-40 feet dn got hit as I was landing mine. They got 3 as well. A school went by lit up the place. Gave the fish the kids caught to them & the other ( 25 incher ) was baked w/ lemon, red onion, dash of old bay, fresh rosemary, garlic-butter & white wine. Fried green tomatoes, home made tartar sauce & cornbread. It didn't suck.

Fished the "gap" at the spoil banks at Crystal River fri morning. (never fishes weekends , too many idiots). Tide let us go thru & trolled east & west along the banks. An hr of wasting gas. Went to south side of banks & slow trolled. My buddy hooked a huge cobia on a pinfish we were dragging behind the boat. Fought it for 50 minutes on 12 lb mono w/ 20 lb floro leader til we got it in the boat. 51", no scale, but guesstimate at 35 lbs. He got out of the boat to cool off & sit in about 2 feet of water. Lucky no one from the plant saw him, they shoot you for that these days. He stepped on a flounder at least 20" long. Scared hell outa him. Haven't caught a flounder along the banks in 25 yrs at least. Nice to know they're still around.

we went out there on saturday. we caught alot of jacks at long point. we also got a nice redfish there. we decided to go offshore to one of the county reef #1 to see what was going on. i anchored up and after a few minutes, a cobia came out from under the boat. Jeremy drops his bait on his nose and gets hooked up. the weekend crowd isn't too bad as long as you get to the ramp early. i am out there at least 3 times a month.

Very nice pictures, thanks for posting. Back in the day, we used to beach the boat on the banks & wade around. Great times & great fishing. Could walk from island to island, but had to be very careful. Slip & fall on the rocks would get you bloodied up really quick. We could go all the way up the dis-charge canal to plant. Spectacular fishing during the winter. This was back in the early 80's & before.
