But the rumors are is that the FWC might keep closed statewater gags or maybe close them shortly after, the guys on capt mel say that the FWC meets with the gulf council next week which if Im reading it right and these rumors are true that means we could maybe end up maybe only a few days. forums.capmel.com/post?id=5160196Probably just paranoid, after watching Inside Job Im skeptical of everything. I just plan on getting out while I can tho

Well isn't that wonderful...lets hope its not true, although I can see them doing it. They'll just make us all poachers. Its restricted enough for the recreational fisherman already. Better get that state water grouper fishing done in the 1 st week of April.

"They'll just make us all poachers"... When I was a young man would take fish out of season and not think twice about it, but that was quite a few years ago. Now a days I follow the regs like a good little boy and even volunteer at the mote aquarium snook/redfish/pompano breeding park in hopes of replenishing the population. If this crap with the regs gets worse they will turn good fisherman into poachers.

Looks like it will probably happen. Basically, until we hear otherwise, season opens April 1st and closes May 31st. Quoted from CapMel member MotherOcean: "they will have a press release after the FWC Commissioner meeting the 6th of April to tell what they decide I found this on the FWC site, looking at the agenda for the April meeting, looks like they plan on going along with the federal closure # 68B-14. 0039 Recreational Grouper Seasons - This section would be modified to close recreational Gulf of Mexico gag grouper harvest from June 1 through September 15, 2011 and November 16, through December 31, 2011. These closures would occur in 2011 only and would be consistent with recent federal action. " The whole thread here: forums.capmel.com/post?id=5154440

Well, if those pricks are going to close grouper fishing to recreational fishermen it should also apply to comercial Fishing. We should make grouper and snapper a game fish (like snook) and remove it from the market. Plenty of farm raised fish for the table. You want grouper, go out and catch it!
