Hey everyone, had a couple questions. There's a couple of us driving over from the USF area tomorrow around 9pm. I noticed we are not coming at the best time as far as tides go. Bringing some buddies and my girlfriend and wanted everyone to catch some fish. Recommendations on 1. Where? N. pier or Dunedin causeway and 2. Whats biting? and 3. What do you recommend for bait for whats biting? Thanks so much in advance for the info!

you can try the skyway bridge for mackeral right now...i was there sunday and they were everywhere. Most of them aren't huge yet, but there's some decent sized ones mixed in. I caught all mine on chrome gotcha lures...they have them available at the tackle shops on the pier, but it's cheaper to grab a bunch at walmart instead.
The way i work them is...let them sink to the bottom, then start jerking the rod top upwards(reeling in a little everytime you jerk)...it works better if there's some slack in the line when you jerk upwards. If you're arms are getting sore after jerking it after a few throws, you might not be jerkin hard enough. You want the lure to dart back and forth...it seems macks prefer fast moving lures, so you have to keep the lure moving.
Get a bunch of lures, cause you're going to lose a bunch...also be careful unhooking the fish...there's 2 treble hooks that can easily get ya if you're not careful...bring some long needle nose plyers with you.
Hope this helps...tight lines h. bui

Cab11983 - How was the fishing Wednesday night? I am going out this afternoon and wanted to see if you had an update on the conditions?
