Got to the pier about 8am. Fished the area near the first bathrooms. First few cast and something large and heavy hits. I was fishing 12lb mono with large sabiki rig. I knew I wouldnt be able to bring this up, I was just hoping to get a look at it. All I saw was the top of the fish looked to have a green color. Next few cast, snagged a whiting. Thats actually my first whiting at the pier. Wish I knew how to catch more of them there. Over the next several hours, caught many Macks. Most just above legal size and some good sized mixed in. Of course with the sabiki, I lost more than I caught. Lost several complete rigs. So I would say the big macks were probably there. Tried several different Gotcha's and spoons, but only thing working was the sabiki. Probably because most of the macks caught were just straight down below. Also had a couple of other rigs out with shrimp. Fed all the fish very well with that. Good day, may try again on tuesday.
