Would post about my Jan 29 SSP trip...but, oh yea.... I got nuthin' but skunked.
So on Sun, went to Apollo Beach fished toward the power plant...and had fun hooking up ladyfish, catfish, small rays, whiting, a couple of spadefish....and....a snook! Beautiful weather, lots of boats, people walking...manatees...oh and did see what I assume was a manatee trailing some kind of floating tracking device, looked like it had an antennae on it..so that's my guess.
I don't care if it was mostly the junk fish slam...I had a great time FISHING!

Sounds like a good time. How big was the snook? Take some pics next time!
Thanks for the report.

Thanks for the pics. Try photo bucket (free) if you have probs with this site. Are you using live bait? I seem to get a lot of cats when using live baits in that area. Normally do better with artificial's.
Thanks again for the pic

Yea, using live shrimp.
Don't get me wrong, I had to wade through lots of rays, cats, ladys, and whiting to get to one snook out there and the two spadefish...I guess those spadefish are good to eat if they are big enough.

...at the "beach" again yesterday, beautiful weather, not too many people until later in the day, somewhat slow action....on live shrimp....1 ray, 1 cat, 1 red (13") , 1 mack (20"), 2 spade...but I was outdoors and I was fishing!
Mack was decent size but didn't bring a cooler not expecting to catch a keeper anything.

Gerard
Were you chunking again with the jig at the beach ?
Yeah , I know it gets quite frustrating when you don't bring the cooler , especially when a keeper comes along . But you got it right ~ at least you were fishing !!

Tried several presentations all with live shrimp, floating still under cork, jigged under rattle cork, knocker rigged. The mack bit, of course, a shrimp landing on my cast...."i knew he was there! right!" All else bit on the knocker.
Oh, also the fun thing about fishing the beach instead of the pier....is the parade of people and dogs going by rather than cars and trucks.
it seems to be mostly visitors...so everyone wants to know.."what kind of fish is that, what bait are you using" Also the parade of boats, every shape size going by, makes you wish you had one....like I saw the name on the back of one boat last year "one day finally came"
