I wonder how it will effect the structural integrity of the west span. Hopefully they make more rubble piles near the west span.

Sounds like there may at least be some easier access to the East rock piles..which would be nice, since you could at least freeline easier on the incoming tide.

So let me this straight: If they are spending 4 million to take down "parts" of the east span. And the FL DOT says "eventually a decision will be made about the western piers"
Hopefully they will build up the western span with the debris from the eastern span ~ nah !! Or does that make too much sense !
We are losing shoreline access We are losing private boat launches to condo's They've already closed the Gandy access due to liability issues They've already closed the East spans, and trying to figure out how to limit their liability. We already have some of the debris from already taken out spans and pylons providing the artificial reef fishing. Perhaps the east spans could be used to slow down the pylon erosion on the west pylons , and extend the life of the current fishing bridge ?

Well we got till 2021 for the west span to be closed, and freelining the other side without getting cut off on the east span would be nice. I do hope the demolition does not scare away the fish though. I hope we don't have issues with the divers and work boats while fishing too.

Oh well I stil my memories! Just got through with a rather long letter to Governor elect Rick Scott
I would encourage every one to do the same
Wasteful government spending at its finest
Why spend money to reiocate concrete when you can drop it where it lays
Guess that would be to easy
Someone please enlighten me on the six month closure on gags

So they will spend 4 million dollars to destroy the east side , but they say they have no funding to maintain or overall the west side.....does the east side burn money sitting there doing nothing? Why spend money to destroy it when they can invest in the west side. blah

Why spend money to destroy it when they can invest in the west side. blah Because they are afraid that some boater will ignore the "Falling Debris" signs and a chunk of concrete will land on his head.
