I don't know if it was a coincedence , but I caught some nice black sea bass under the pier. Dunno if they are here for the winter. I've never caught em though before until today.

The larger Grouper are starting to show with the lower water temps and should continue until closed season. The occasional Trout especially Silvers. Macks until the water gets to cold. To name a few.

when fishing for groupa in winter, soak a large dead bait.... I inject menhaden oil to get some smell in the water. Bite takes longer as the fish are slow with cold weather.

I had read elesewhere that the cold front brought in turbid (cloudy) water . Hopefully the air temps will stabilize soon and stay clear for a while.
jsl ~ as filletnrelease said , it will all depend on water temps and stability of the temps. Last year , it was a disaster with a winter kill-off , especially affecting the snook population (which remains open only for catch and release.

Good eats there Jay, convicts are on the top of my list. Tons of small crabs down by gandy and ballast point. Just be mindfull of what type of crab you are grabbing. you dont want a fine for using a baby stone crab as bait!
