My wife and I fished the NSP from 9:30 am 'til 12:30 pm. The water was pretty dingy when we first got there but as the tide change really got into gear it started to clear. The baitfish came in and there were some mackerel cutting them. The baitfish were somewhat shy of the Sabiki rigs and it took a lot of jigging just to get a couple. We set out several rigs, two with live pinfish, one with a live greenback that we cut the tail from, and cut bait from a greenback. I got a hit on the live greenback under the pier and the critter dove around a piling. I tried to horse him out but broke off my 50 lb. braid. It was a nice pull however.
Personally, I saw no one else catching anything to speak of either. I'm going to try it again late this afternoon. With the water clearing the mackerel will surely show up in big numbers.
