I was on the pier at 7 am and fished until 9:30. I caught two very nice Spanish mackerel on Gotcha plugs - red head, white body, gold hooks. I didn't weigh them but my guesstimate is 3 pounds on each. Immediately bled them, filleted, and iced them down. They will meet the grill later today. I had to leave because of an appointment but getting pretty hot out there. Lots of bait in the water this morning and several of the boaters who have no manners were as obtrusive as ever.
I also fished for awhile yesterday from 6 pm until 9:30 but did not catch anything noteworthy nor did I see anyone else doing so. I had hoped the rain might turn on the bite but it didn't happen while I was there but hopefully it did overnight for those who stuck it out. I had to surrender to my back pain and head back to Pinellas Park.

I'm a former Pier Rat who finally got my boat running. I've been going to the pier to net bait all summer long, and I can tell you it is EXTREMELY EASY to see where people are and are not fishing. I've had a couple of "Oops Events", when people were fishing a long way from their vehicle, but for the most part, I have tried to be considerate. Anyone who doesn't look where people are is just an inconsiderate a$$, and deserves to have a 5 gal bucket of water poured on them. Just sign me: "Once a Pier Rat, always a Pier Rat"

Well said florida boy.
Enjoy them Macks David from Nc. They are very good when fresh.
And a side not to florida boys statements. Those idiots that run over your lines are the same dicks that run up on Dive flags to steal a spot.
