I had a buddy pick me up today and he brought his 6 year old boy with him. We headed out to the pier and got there around 11:30. Fishing was ok, managed 2 short Gags which I let the little boy reel in and CPR, and we ended up with 10 Macks, which the little boy ended up reeling about 5 or 6 in, he had a ball. We had plenty of bites, just lost a bunch. Some folks down from us caught 4 or 5 grouper, but only one keeper. They got a nice Trout as well. Ok well, time for bed, I have to be up for work at 3:30am.

I'll jump your thread here and add my 7/24 report.... got to pier around 7a.m. fishermen are few and far between, have our pick of spots...
Bait is thick...sounds like rain they're popping so much....cool to see the bait reacting as macks are cruising and eating...you can easily see the path and the speed the macks move on when chasing down food....caught a few pins and greenbacks, to drift on the incoming....tide was really slow...so had to coax my pinner to swim out....not much action until about mid morning....got a hit that just bit the head off one pin, and had another pin knocked dead with a surgical v bite to its throat! I guess an aggressive mack....third pin on and out...he's getting nervous and pow...fishon!....fought him in, put the tape to him....20 incher....back ya go junior. I look down the way my wife has a bow in her rod, working a fish in, she swears will be a keeper, BUT it's a feisty 19 1/2 inch red grouper....juuuuuust a little inside! Outgoing tide fisherdudes and dudettes are pouring in now, and tide is slacking, hard to get a pin to go..so we switch sides, switch to lighter snapper rigs, throw a few greenies and greeenie chunks into the outgoing rocks while tide is slack, I get a hit on a live bait, but no hookup on a 1/0 circle hook....and about 30 min later, the wife gets a really nice hit...shorty grouper....rain comes in for a little bit, cools it off really nicely, we fish about another hour and head out.
