float some pin fish out on the outgoing tide. you can also us a weight as well. If you get stuck you know your on a rock pile. It takes time, pratice, and decent gear. if you see someone doing well then just watch what they are doing, and possible ask a few questions. Mostly time put in will deliever bigger fish.

Thanks for the info, wat i do is i get a 6/0 hook and a pinfish with a small weight about a foot up the line after that i tie a balloon to the line. He way i measure i by leting the pinfish just touch the water then i tie the balloon where the line is(on the tip of the rod) thats how i do it

from the line of your rod... slip on an egg weight heavy enough to get to the bottom (depending on the strength of the current) then tie a swivel... then tie on a leader I use 60lbs mono... about 3 feet of it.... then tie on your circle hook.... I use a 4/0 - 6/0 depending on the size of pinfish. If you want to free line out a pin fish you can tie a leader to a circle hook with a swivel... but there are as many opinions as there are ways when it comes to rigging your rods. Just experiment and put your time in. You will see what works for you and if it’s not working try something else.

My advise to you is: !) Stop in the NSP Bait house and ask for Big Mike. Big Mike will hook you up on Gear , Tackle and the correct bait for the time.
2) Look for Pier Rat decals on cars. They are fellow forum members.
3) Arrange meetings via this forum to hook up with the regulars. All are wil to help. Good luck and tight lines
