Took my old man to the Skyway pier for his second fishing trip of his life. I showed him how to float out pinfish for grouper and he is a quick learner.... He hung two keepers within 3 hours. One gag was 23 inches and the next was 22 inches and fat. He also managed to catch the biggest fish of the day and one himself a nice little bait pole provided by big mike. I on the other hand caught all the bait, rigged all the rods, and still got frayed off on 60lbs leader twice! oh well i am so glad my old man got hooked up with some nice fish, and hopefully this will be a pattern for hime to fish with me more often. other than that nothing else seeded to be bitting.

That's great, fishing with your Pop and all. I miss those day's but don't regret a second of all the times we hit them hard.

Congratulations to your dad as well as your chance to build a nice memory with him. My dad is gone now but once he finally retired I ushered him into pier fishing. He had been raised sitting on a creek bank with a cane pole so didn't care much for a spinning reel. Finally, I got him to use a Zebco 888 so he could just push the button and drop it over the side. I'm glad you got to do this with your dad and it is especially cool that he had the catch of the day. ;D

Thanks, I am glad my old man is starting to come fishing when he visits. For years he would drop me and my brother off at the lake worth pier and pick us up 5 minutes before the pier closed. We loved every minute of it, but always wished he would come out and drop a line with us. Its nice that now my brother and I are older with a family of my own being able to share this with him. I am looking forward to many more trips in the future.

Thanks Big Mike. I had a pretty nice day. Ate at my favorite Japanese and spent a lot of money. Strange I didn't get no gifts though. Ha! I hope to get back out there. Wife pretty hot about that oil spill though. I keep telling her it's not here but she is worried I might get an oily fish. If they get it stopped though I think this area may skate out ok. Sure hope so. 70 years. Never thought I'd make it. See you soon big guy. At least I hope so. riverviewsteve
