Nice day on the water with constant bites. Crew consisted of me, Stephen (Eaglesfan), Rich (Grouperscouper), James (JJ), Tommy (Tommy) and Captain Skylar. Sorry but due to me being lazy I didn't take many pics at all.
Our first run was to hit an amberjack hole and we got a few but no keepers to company the ice. Congrats to Stephen on landing and catching his first AJ ever. We decided to run to the pipe to see if we can get some snapper and grouper. First drop everyone's on fish but all shorts. In the mix was gags, scamps, reds, mango. Stephen did manage to get the first keeper red grouper. I also managed to get a nice little mangrove.
After a few more moves I drop line and i felt line go slack; so i tighten up and set teh hook. shortly later a little Phin goes airborn (my first mahimahi ever). We were able to get a couple more to stay and join the first one. While James was fighting a fish I began to reel up and get whacked hard and at first everyone was thinking cuda......short fight and couple runs later I pull up a my first king fish ever!
We moved along the pipe a couple more times and JJ gets hit with something hard on a beeliner (vermillino snapper) and its dragging him around teh boat bowed up/doubled over; just as lines are starting to free up he pumps and bam line breaks. Rich then throws out a flat line and is awarded with a Big Ole BONEHEAD. Skylar throws down a butterfly beeliner and wham! up comes a nice fire truck.
At teh end of the trip we decided to drift along a nice weedline and were awarded with a nice spread of mahimahi. unfortunately for us we were out of small green backs but they still managed to stick around and hit jigs, and small pins. Also another first for Stephen.
The trip was a BLAST as always and of course GREAT FRIENDS and GREAT Captain! Unfortunately capt. Jessie couldn't accompany us because his wife delivered a baby girl! CONGRATS to him again and enjoy the pampers (you'll be needing them).
Final tally 20 phins, 1 mango, 1 king, 2 reds, 1 bonehead, 2 reds.
The ARS's we were looking for where no where to be found and we couldn't find a bigger gag to bump that 20" mark.
