Hi, I am coming down May 19-23 and going to be fishing off the skyway bridge is there any tips or suggestions. I have fished off piers before but as far as bait does ciggar minnows work it looks on the boards that people use pinfish and a lot of cutbait. I am also big on Kingfishing so what side of the bridge would be my best bet, or does it all depend on the water flow and wind? Any help would be great.
Thank You, Nick

Why is it that most the pictures of the fish from the bridge are not gaffed, besides like the sharks etc.. Is the water not far down from the bridge?

Either bridge nets or the "skyway flip"

In the case of grouper, we normally use heavy enough tackle to reel them up and then like Bigdawg say's flip them over the rail or use a drop net. You don't want to be gaffing possibly short grouper. For Kings, Macks etc, you can use a bridge gaff if you know they'll be legal. My guess is that its 10' from your feet to the water

Are you allowed to use trebble hooks there. When I go I plan on fishing for kings and Spanish. I might do some bottom fishing but from the sound of it, skyway is loaded with shorties.

Yeah you can use trebles. The rocks are loaded with short grouper, but if you fish a nice outgoing and can get your bait out there a ways...and use BIG baits, youll have a better chance of getting a keeper...The wind wouldnt let us freeline yesterday so we had to settle for nothing but shorts...its still better catching shorts than nothing at all though.
Good luck!
