Decided to fish the SSP again for a change of scenery and Im starting to like it over there. Got there around 1pm to catch the tide change, which didnt happen until 3 instead of 2. But anyway caught a mack on a cut threadfin and saw a few more come over with spoons and such. When the outgoing started I began freelining cut threadfins and tossing them out on fish finder rigs. Caught 3 grouper, all too short. 18", 17" and 15". I was fishing just past the last bath house. Figured I would leave at 4:30 to miss some traffic so I started reeling in a cut threadfin I had freelining and when I was bringing it in something hit it so hard it almost pulled the rod outta my hands. Once I regained my composure I tried to give it a fight and tightened up my drag some but no sooner did I do that my 40 lb line snapped. Dont know what it was but it was STRONG. Caught 2 of the grouper and hooked that big thing on the "dumpster rod" I found if anyone remembers me mentioning that a few weeks ago lol.

I was out there for my second time during the same time Thursday. Was that you with the big Cobia? Someone near the south pier's baitshop was fighting a big one.
