OK I'm going Thursday to N pier. My mission is to catch me a big fat grouper. I'm gonna float a pinfish on one pole and I'm gonna use a grouper rig with a pinfish on another pole. I ve been reading everyones post and learned a lot. Everyone keep your fingers crossed for me! I'll come back and tell ya if it worked (hopefully I can just show ya a picture ) If anyone wants to give me anymore pointers before I go, I sure would appreciate it. I promise I'll take all good advice! Terri

only use 1 rod at a time or it will rock you up before you realize it even has a hit

Find the rock piles! Take a look at the pier using Bing maps birds eye view...that'll give you some indication of where they are, and if you're there around high noon, you will be able to see the darker areas in the water at many of them. Of course the old cast and get stuck method is a good indicator as well..though not as fun. Good luck!

Like they said use one rod and when floating out your bait don't put the rod down because you want to get the fish up out of the rocks as fast as you can when it hits or its over in a hart beat. If you stop in the nsp bait shop i can put you on some rocky area that hold fish around the nsp.

Jae, look at the photo and count the pilings between the rock piles, in all cases it is 4. That is the count between the 6 piling locations. Trust me, some may be a few feet off, but for the most part it is fool proof. Use the photo to mark where in relation the rocks are from the cross walks, buildings etc. One thing I did notice is that some of the rock formations do not extend as far out as I suspected.

Ok so we went out today. Kid caught a mack... Husband caught a keeper grouper, and me.... well I just caught something that snapped my 50lb spider line Well the good thing about fammily fishing is that no matter who catches what, it all ends up on the same dinner table! I can't wait to eat a grouper sandwich! Nice to meet ya Capt. Mike. Tried what ya told me to do.... pinfish was really starting to get out there. I had to leave though Thanks for the tip
