My buddy steve and I got there about 11 am and started catching threadfins and small pinfish. Big Pins were very hard to find. Man was it crowded, but I managed to find a spot. A spot I had never fished before. Put on a #14 Sabiki ( actually a Mustad Piscator 8 hook 8 foot from Wally World) and started catching Macks immediately. At one point I had 3 on at a time. Mostly in 14 to 18 in. range. Then some bigger ones showed up. Biggest I caught was 22". People using Gotcha's and spoons were getting nothing. Later in the day some big boys showed up and 2 young guys next to us were nailing some 24" and larger. They were using small clark spoons under a bobber, tip with shrimp. Just goes to show you, you never know what they like at any given time, because all of a sudden the big sabiki wasn't working anymore. I didn't really care cause the tide was changing and I was grouper hunting. Tried frozen spanish dines and nothing, tried cut mack and nothing. So it was up to the small pins. We caught some 18" shorties and my buddy caught a 22" keeper. Then the tide started to really rip and that was it, we packed it up. Really nice day, except for the crowd, but was good for the pier business. They need it, to stay open. I got a water temp reading of 68 degrees, so you know what that means. Her's a pic of my friends keeper. Didn't get a pic til we got home.

Sweet report and pic, John. I've heard there's been a good number of keepers coming over the rails. Awesome news on the water temp, too.
Macks and gags....its about time. I was just sayin to Rich (fishonfishoff) that the crowds are definitely a good sign for the piers as far as business goes...even though I don't like it when its really crowded...
I have a feeling were gonna see some great reports on the forum this weekend.....stay tuned!

Yeah, SSP. Funny thing was I was going to stop at the NSP first for the incoming tide and to try and get some big pinners, but when I saw the crowd, I beat feet for the SSP before it got even worse.

Way to go John, We got there about 1 and fished around 100, was really surprised how crowded it was. bait was pretty scarce. got 2 greenies and got 2 grouper hits. landed 1 short. Nothing on pins. Used cut threadfins for macks, caught about 10. kept 3, two were 19 and one was 22. Didn't really care, just great to be back on the peir

Hey, we were just on the other side of those 2 young guys! Just on the other side of us a guy was floating greenbacks under a cork and was getting slammed at every cast for a while. Big ones too, that was the day for macks. Oh, and my wife did pull a 24 inch gag out of his hole for Easter Dinner so we had a great day!
