Hey guys,
So i know there has been a massive fish kill according to the news. But with temps rebounding..is anyone fishing? Planning on fishing?
Curious about the bait situation, i am hoping to get out and kayak the skinny water around Ft. Desoto this weekend weather permitting and was gonna bring the cast net in the odd chance there is any bait re-appearing after the cold.
Any reports on fishing activity? Anything? Its been quiet for a while on here...

I would guess most fish are stuffed with all the freebies floating around and on the bottom.. Gonna be some fat crabs around soon.

was wading in dunedin today and we slammed the trout. All shorties 10 to 13 inches. Alot of fun on the later afternoon incoming tide

i made a trip up to ft desoto to do some kayak fishing in the protection of the mangroves. great time. I caught two under slot reds, youngins despite the lack of tidal movement. Had a few short strikes from mr. gator, but the red's were the only catch and release. Red's were brilliant, very healthy looking, but you could see the toll the cold took as i saw some nice fish washed ashore. Cant wait to check the area out on a better tidal day, with less wind.

well....went out sunday for a bit, got on a huge school of redfish around weedon island......had some dead white bait that we found in my buddys freezer, started out using live shrimp, and stayed with the school for about an hour with nothing happening, we finally got 3 small reds to feed on the chum we were throwing, and we ended up catching 10 in about 10mins, some up to 30" but they shutoff rather quickly. saw countless numbers of dead snook, and last week my buddy saw a school of tripletail in his canal on the dock lights....i found that very odd, but i let this man tie my knots, so i trust him, never seen tripletail in a canal, mostly of the beaches or around channel markers. anyway, things have been slow and next week, weather allowing, we are going to spend the early hours of the morning on the flats and then hit the slyway by boat to see if we cant coax a couple grouper. getting my camera back this week so ill try and post pics again when i let yall know how things are going on my end of town.

Hey lostmans,
I normally kayak back in Weedon. DO you get back via boat or on Kayak? Or are you a wader? Ive never had any redfish luck at Weedon, but done ok with Snook and trout. I live in carrollwood, itd be cool to get someone to fish with. i am actually thinking of trying the outflow at the bartow plant sunday. Ever try the area?
tight lines,
BMA
