I ve never been to the anclote pier, but with all this cold water the heated water sounds like the spot. I figure just like myself that loads of people are flocking there as well. is there any wading around in this warm discharge water? If so where would you suggest I might go and what are to look for trout while wading? kip

Kip,
Although it is a warm water discharge it is not bath water. ;D If you have waders and are sensitive to the water temp I would bring them. If you do not mind the temp then go for it. You can wade from the floating barrels all the way down to the pier. The depth can drop off very quick in some spots. It can be very busy some days and slow the next.
Personally, I have found that if the bite is on you will find it fast. If the bite is off, then I usually spend about a half hour and roll out. I like to use a yellow goofy jig for Pompano or work a doa shrimp along the bottom or live shrimp under a bobber.
Good Luck

when you get there head left of the pier towards the plant. there is a path you can use as a shortcut its kinda steep so if its rained at all take the long way and walk through the water. but anyway you can wade up that shoreline a bit after the sand stops. ive never waded all the way to the barrels so i dunno if thats possible. however that spot is no secret so get there early. i generally fish off of the sandy area or off the pier using mostly shrimp or a gulp shrimp.

I have only been there in my flats boat. Trout bite is great on the grass flats, normally use a zera spook or top dog Jr. But damn is it crazy at the boat ramps.....
