got to the discharge side of the power plant at 10 am with a few dozen live shrimp just to see how it would be. it was freezing cold but we tried it anyways. first cast out i caught a lane snapper. thought that was sort of weird but i wasn't complaining. next one out, caught another, and another, and another. it was like a lane snapper reunion at the hot water discharge. decided to move down a few spots to see what else was out there. hooked up with a 19" trout. nice change from the lanes. next few out, caught some black sea bass. moved down a little more and what do you know, a 15" gag decides to join in on the fun. finally ran out of bait and we packed up and went home at 2:30
total for the day
4 black sea bass 7" to 10" 1 19" sea trout 1 15" gag 20 or so lane snappers 6" to 9" 1 serious case of frost bite! ;D

Hey Marrio,
Anclote isnt to far from where my wife and i live. I have my Kayak. I was just looking at the geo maps to find the outfalls at Big Bend in Apollo beach, the plant at Weedon Island (Bartow), and Florida Power's Anclote plant where u were fishing. Did you guys wade fish, Kayak, or boat in? Ive been wanting to try the power plants, but i dont know how far in i am allowed to go and want to avoid any trespassing charges and what not. Can you give me some info on the plants? I am hoping this next weekend will be a little warmer with some better weather and if so i hope to hit one of the three power plant areas i mentioned.
If we get a good warm up i may head to Desoto to try the bayou area for flounder.
How have you guys been? Hope you had a great holiday season, i'd love to wet a line with you guys sometime. Lets try and hook up and do some fishing.
take care,
Jason & Larry

thanks trucky. Is Bartow worth trying? Or is most of the warm water plume inaccessible?
