Damn Truck, did you steal my shoulder? Ive got the same problem.
My MRI revealed torn tendons, shredded labrum, fractured something-or-other, partially torn bicep....
Does yours ever pop out (dislocate)? Mine has about 100 times over the last 20 years. I used to be able to pop it back in myself, but now it takes a trip to the ER, they have to knock me out and yank it back in. I was planning on getting surgery this spring, but it looks like thats put off for about a year or so.
Keep me posted on exactly what kind of repairs youre gonna have done, Im hoping they can fix mine arthoscopically, but its not looking good, with all thats wrong with it, Im sure theyre gonna have to open me up and do a rebuild.
Oh, and dont forget to post pics, post surgery. I wanna know what I might have to look forward to!!!
Hang in there buddy!

Hey Steve and Wayne, I've had the same thing. My advice, DON"T DO ANYTHING, unless you can"t avoid it. I have had 4 surgeries on the same shoulder, from torn labrum to complete reconstruction. I am worse off now than I was before the surgeries. You just learn to live with the pain. I have nerve damage after the second one. I can't feel my pinkie finger to this day, and that surgery was in '98. A torn labrum will heal itself if you take care it, but it takes time. The third one was the complete reconstruction, including the biceps tendon. The fourth was to fix the problems that the third caused. If having a 1'x1/2' piece of bone removed to stop the fraying of the biceps tendon sounds like fun then have at it. I've had 3 different doctors, each trying to fix the other's mistakes. At this point, I will never get anything done on it again. Good luck to ya both.

Hey Chris, thanks for the info. When did you have these surgeries done? (I saw '98 listed which is over 10 years ago). I think the technology has improved quite a bit since then, at least thats what Ive read.
The problem with mine is no longer having the ability to re-set it myself after it pops. Its impossible for me to get it back in place now, and I HAVE to go to the ER to have it put back in. The reason I never worried about getting it fixed before, was the fact that I COULD pop it back in. Sure it hurt, but I always dealt with the pain. Now, however, I have to make sure no matter where Im at, I have the option to get to a hospital if need be. Imagine if I went on an offshore trip, and it popped out. No way could I sit there for hours waiting to get back to civilization...Id go completely nuts.
When its out of socket, the pain is so intense Ive actually blacked out/passed out a few times from the pain -- once on the way being driven to the ER, once in the ER waiting room, and once while I was driving MYSELF to the ER when it popped out in my sleep and had no one to drive me (I had to pull over quickly and slam my car into park on a sidewalk -- NOT FUN!! lol)
Trust me, if I could still pop it back in, I wouldnt worry about it, but its way beyond that point. I just hope I can find a good surgeon that can fix it enough so that it will stay in place.

Hey Steve, surgeries were 97, 98, 2001, 2003. Sounds like you are dislocating your shoulder. That is how my problems started. You certainly have some issues. Find a orthopediac Dr. that has done sports injuries. I know what you are going through and it blows. Hope you have good insurance. My 3rd op was over 40 g's. I will be out on the SSP in the a.m. if you want to talk some more.
