I'm headed out very early Friday and I'm hoping to target some Spanish Mackerel. Do you think SSP, Ft. Desoto or somewhere else altogether? I haven't been out in quite some time and I'm sure hooking some speedy macks with get the blood flowing. Also, just from reading around... looks like bait is available as well. I can't wait!

Hey linttrap,
Great sceen name. Was out Sunday on SSP. The macks were there but not in full force. Use a small spoon, (8-10ft 20lb. fluro leader) with a slow retrieve up through the bait. Match the Hatch.

I got out a little later then expected but I decided on the SSP. When I arrived the Macks were already blasting the bait so I rigged up as fast as possible freelining greenies that were about 4" long. I was using 20 and 30# leader material with a long shank hook and I was still cut off an insane amount of times. Not sure how to stop that one. I only kept enough for a nice dinner and had a great time. I also had my grouper rod out. Hooked up with a mamoth tarpon that was no less than 125#. A few jumps later and she came off but what a sight to see that baby jump like she did.
Ok... giant pics and I am not gonna bother this time... see below... thanks to havetofish, they appear normal. I'll get it right next time.
