I love braid... I was soooooo sooooo close to catching my first keeper snook of the season earlier, jumped right in front of me, went into the pilings but the braid held up, my 40 lb mono leader was what broke off, he had made 3 big runs so i knew he was getting tired like most snook do. But he was healthy, no less than 26 and no more than 32, he was a biggun. Arghh!!!!
Then i had another bait out there, and something shot my line out so fast it left bubbles in the water from where the line cut thru it, that one broke the 30 lb braid, im thinking a big mackeral and its tail whipped the line, but it was FAST!
Stupid rain had to go and chase me away, i was just getting started. Oh and the snapper there musta been 30 of em eating up the small minnows that i was throwing in that got gilled in my cast net. No huge ones but majority looked at least 10 in didnt want to fool with them tho didnt have my cooler or stringer and it woulda been to easy plus no big ones.
Saw some big sheepshead starting to move into. Tide aint moving much but I know what im doing all weekend, saw a 20 in grouper caught also so Ill be throwing out a pinner and letting my open face sit with the clicker when i go out tomorrow. Good times

Oh and i was having a convo with some older guy out there and we got on the topic of grouper, they are the hardest fish to judge the size of by looking at them. Some 18 inchers ive caught look like they are 24" and while others look like they are 13". Whats up with that?

i cant bring myself to put braid on yet for some reason. ive used it a few times and thought it was ok but not phenomenal like some people say.
i went wading at fort d the other day and didnt get anything. conditions were against me though, i had the wind dead in my face which makes it pretty hard to cast a shrimp any distance at all

Both braid and mono have their time and place, imo. My 2 main poles have both. I keep braid on one and mono on the other.

I have been using braid for about 5 years now,you could not PAY me to go back to mono. The few times I used it we were using all artificials and didnt catch many fish. I only got a knot or 2 and I think it was my fault just because I was new to the braid. I guess I should go ahead and give it a try because worst case scenario is I switch back and I am out 20 bucks or so. When you use braid do you need to use different knots? I cant imagine tying 8lb braid to a 20 lb flouro leader using the double uni knot, I feel like it would slide right through.
