Arrived at the NSP pier about 6 am. Was surprised when the cost to get on the pier was the same as in past, had heard/read that the admission price was raised. Anyway, bait only available on sabiki under the lights. There was alot of bait in the water, and alot of ladyfish chasing them around. Took a bit to get up a few medium size green backs. Right off the bat, my son pulls in a 26 inch lady.. threw her back. I'm still rigging up the rest of the rods. About 10 min later he pulls in a 15" mangrove. then everything goes calm while the sun comes up. No bait, no ladyfish nothing anywhere!! Like they all disappeared. Fought all morning to catch bait... one here one there. But then they were big (7-8") and on the bottom. Even tried some frozen shrimp to no avail. Caught a few pinfish on the bottom and two lookdown jacks. My father in-law managed one gag (23"... of course), went back in the drink. and that was it for the day. Got rocked a few times or maybe just plain hungup?? We stayed until noon, and then it started to get too hot.
Wish we had got there an hour or two earlier, but we already had a long dirve ahead of us. Plus I stayed up to try and catch the shuttle launch.
Anyway, beautiful morning.... just not the best for fishing on the NSP. I was surprised that for the most part of the morning, we were the ONLY ones on the pier!!

Went out on the nsp this morning to try for some snapper the tide was just starting to go out fished up an the end of the pier and did catch three all about 12" and about a half dozen shorts. I started to cast out about 20 yards and BAM! rocked setup and made another cast to the same spot WHAM!! rocked again. Now all i have in the truck is med spinning gear so i go and switch rods put on my circle hook catch a grunt with the other rod cast it out and sure enough bing bang boom fish on for about thirty seconds rod is bent down as far as it can go and then that sound POP lost another. Before i left i lost five fish not sure if they were gags or tarpon because they were rolling on top all around me. But i had a blast even if they got away it was fun.

My mistake meant to type 21". Thought about grabbing it by both ends and stretching it a bit. LOL
