Duid, have you lost your mind, I wouldn't want to catch fish that have been feeding on residents of the 9th ward. Lake Pontchartrain is one of the most contaminated bodies of water on the planet, theres at least 20 refinerys that have been dumping waste in it for decades. Fuk that place and the people too.

Cool. I have family in New Orleans, and last time I was there (4 months BEFORE Katrina), we ate at a great seafood place on Lake Ponchartrain called Jaegers. Big platters of crawdads and shrimp. Friggin awesome.
The way I see it, why not make a fishing pier there, its a great idea. Making new spots for people to fish is never a bad idea. With all of the local spots down here being taken away, its nice to see that someone, somewhere is doing the opposite.
I probably wouldnt want to eat the fish there either, but thats not the point. The point is to give the local people a place to fish. No doubt fish caught there could and would feed families that cant afford to buy food. And think how many kids might catch their first ever fish there, turning them into anglers for life.
Just my $.02
