Fished offshore in my son in laws boat yesterday. We got a 6lb yellow jack, a bonito, and a small king (10 lbs). Missed a bunch of king hits due to cut offs.

I thought most people who fished for kings generally tie steel leaders? Is it common to fish for kings using mono? I like to learn more about fishing for kings…

I like to learn more about fishing for kings… Get more bites with mono/floru leader... depends on bait and such. usually people use steel leader for live bait. for dead.. just use mono.

We were using a rig which I call a party boat rig - a 2oz jig with 2 hooks in tandem with 50lb flouro with a dead ballyhoo.
