Its been quite a while since I last fished. Heard from the forum the outgoing tide was hitting on the NSP. So I'd thought I try.
Went to the North side and fished from 6-8pm on the outgoing tide. Took me about half an hour to find bait and freeline mostly threadfins and scaled greenbacks. Didn't find much spanish sardines as those are my favorite. Fished the opposite first corner on the gulf side. Caught 10. Took home 8 mac and 2 bluerunners. Most macs seem to be in the 15-16" average. 8-10 pm, I caught 30 crabs and 14 shrimps. Have a wonderful weekend!

Very nice catch, especially 30 crabs. Were they all decent size blue crabs, not just little pass crabs? Also, you are to be commended for telling us where you fished. However, I am not quite understanding where the opposite first corner is or means. Is the first corner where the remains of the old northbound lanes start as one drives out onto the SSP?

There is a indentation on the left side where you can park hozizontally. It’s also looks like a corner. It’s the 1/3 way up or maybe 6 or 7th light pole.

basically the trash area. One man’s trash is another man’s fishing treasure. That area is very good for almost all fish caught at skyway... even baby kingfish!!! :-p oh and that's where I usually jig for pomp... I didn't tell you guys that.

Most people have their favorite spots but the fish move around and the "good" spots may not produce on a given day. Not all fish move around and even when fish move around, they trend to follow bait fish or follow a path. That's why it's important to find structure which holds the baitfish... just like offshore. Just my 2 cent... reason why people fish a certain spot because fish keep coming back to the spot or stay there.

I honestly don’t know mackerlman’s secret spot. I actually ask one time on the forum and was told to “figure it out”. Haha. It’s ok if no one shares their honeypot and I totally understand and don’t blame them. Happy Fishing!!!

Everyone, Don't worry about trying to find & Fishing for My Favorite Spot. Good Luck! Read what Tears just said & He is Totally Correct. I have several Favorite Spots for the different types of Fish that I want to catch. If a certain Fish is not in a certain spot, I go to the other spot for that Fish. Anglers here on Proboards that have Fished with Me knows where to go to catch the different Fish that I catch. A Few have caught even Bigger Fish than Me but I don't care because there is more Fish out there to catch. I Congratulate those! You just have to catch Me Fishing to Find those spots. As Tears said, Find, "The Structure that holds the Bait & You will Find the Fish".
By the way, I have been Fishing the Skyway since the middle 1970's.

Hint or Big Tip: - Your Choice. Like Tears has said again & again in His posts, most Bait & Fish are found around structure. Look where the Columns are supporting the Bridge. Most Snappers & Sheepshead are there in those spots. Look where the Bridge is missing. There is concrete from the bridge in the water at those spots. Many Fish like Gags hide in the structure because the water is cooler there. But when a certain Baitfish comes by, the Fish will chase it. You normally do not catch Macks on the rockpiles, but some do when they are freelining Bait or fishing with a Bobber with Bait or a McDonald Straw. The streetlights are where the rockpiles are. Fish between the rockpiles with spoons. If You catch a piece of rebar or concrete in the water with Your weight or spoon, say Good-Bye to Your Spoon.
Like I have said many times, If You keep getting cut-off from Macks, You are not reeling fast enough. Macks are fast swimmers. If Flipper is chasing your catch, You better be reeling faster than Flipper can swim & get it up out of the water. I have even got people wet on the Pier from Flipper splashing back into the water for getting My Macks out of the water before Flipper can get it. If You don't get up & get out there before dawn to Fish for the Big Macks, then stay home because the Big Macks will most likely be gone. The Macks are not going to wait on You, they want to eat just before sunrise or in the late afternoon. Then You can Fish the late afternoon through night tide. Your Choice: Morning or Late Afternoon.
Good Luck !
