When I read Mackerelman's report on the red tide, I decided NOT to try Ft. DeSoto.
Instead I went to Bellaire Causeway and fished from 630 to 930am. Fishing went a bit better than expected: caught about 20 pins (10 of which would been real nice size for grouper); 2 undersized specks; 1 catfish (kept) and several pigfish (kept 2). Used pieces of shrimp on a chopped down sabiki rig. Weather felt nice and cool until about 830.

Checked Bellaire today, June 15, did not fish. Talked with a FWC ranger...we did not see signs of the tide there...no dead fish and no smells.

Fish are out there but scattered, my son went by boat Sunday around Anna Maria and caught a good mixed bag of keeper red's , trout, snook and some short gag's, seems the fish are moving to cleaner water. Maybe the rain will push this algae out.
