Went yesterday and fish the Bay pier. Didn’t catch anything but lizard fish and one mackerel in my casket that was about 10 inches long. Lots of glass minnows green backs and thread fins of all sizes. At around 1 o’clock I finished one of the bridges that lead up to Tierra Verde and cost of small group are. I’m going to probably hold off on fishing for a couple weeks until we get the June rains coming in.

Based on this, I believe I will go snapper fishing along the Gandy this weeekend!

Calcolator I fished the SSP Monday had a few hits and got one undersize Mack It feels to me like the mackerel came in way too early and way too fast. I don’t know if this means that they’ll be coming in later this year to. But hopefully they’ll be running back pretty consistently by September November. I know they’re still catching kings offshore, but finding a charter or buddy that has a boat little difficult right now. Hoping I can get a kayak by the end of the year that I can take off at the skyway so I can come by and actually fish the main bridge as well so I’m not so crowded. |

Based on this, I believe I will go snapper fishing along the Gandy this weeekend! I’m not too savvy when it comes to snapper. I’ve always treated them more of a buy catch then something I was going for. Do you have any tips or what to use where to go? It’s been a while since I’ve had some good ceviche. |

I have a small aluminum semi-v with a 25hp, I put in at the Gandy ramps and fish the bridge piles with live shrimp & small white bait/greenie/finger mullet.
Move from pile to pile until you find them. Once they are biting, a limit of keepers is almost too easy.
Timing the tide is the tricky part, If the tide is screaming, its tough to keep the bait down in the strike zone.

Cut up threadfins are always a winner with Snapper. To be fair they will eat almost anything as long as it's meat and it came out of the water. I prefer threadfins or sardines though. I also like fresh over frozen because in my twisted little mind they seem to stay on the hook better. |
