Waited 20 minutes to get on. Got a good education today. Saw several keeper gags come up. I really nice sheepshead. So grunts. No mackerel. No snappers
I didn't catch anything but a nice blue runner, but learned more so when grouper season opens I should be better.
Had dolphin chase my but bait
Saved 2 pelicans

Oh wow, keeper gags on the north pier? I thought they only caught them on the south, but I just moved here so what do I know. What time did you get there? Care to share any of the grouper pointers you picked up ?

Are people actually fishing for gags or were they accidental catches?

Care to share any of the grouper pointers you picked up ? Don't fish anything lighter than 80# leader. Don't fish with a rod/reel that can't pick up a 15# weight. Don't try to fish more than 1 rod. Don't set your rod down, even with a bottom rig. Don't flip a little 20" fish over the rail and slam it on the pavement.

Thundergills, thanks for rescuing the 2 pelicans. I used to work at the suncoast seabird sanctuary in Indian shores...hence, you know how my avatar and name originated.

People were targeting grouper for sure. Because the snapper were not biting... I started throwing large cut bait too.
For grouper tips see the sticky notes above. And get out there and fish!
June 1st is coming... time to tie some rigs
