Ive caught bonnet heads before and this looks more like a baby hammer head. I fished Seddon Channel in Tampa today, I didn't think they would be around here at all. I would've taken more pictures but I wanted to get him back in the water ASAP in case it was a hammer head.

Hey Jerimiah - do you know how large the smooth Hammerheads grow? I guessing not as large as the Great Hammerheads....I used to go to Boca Grande a couple times a year and have watched the carnage they cause. Besides chasing down 150-200 pound Tarpon we saw one breach with the biggest ray I have ever seen easily 10 feet across and the Hammer had it sideways in his mouth shaking it like a dog with a toy.....awesome

Some over 1200lbs

Back when I had a 20' CC, we were about 15 miles off Orange Beach, AL and saw a huge fin cruising along. Pulled up and it was a gigantic hammerhead, almost a long as the boat, just cruising along at the surface. We chunked a big dead bait in front of it, it inhaled the bait and bit through a 47# single strand leader like it was sewing thread. He went his way, we went ours.
Biggest fish I've ever seen in person outside of a whale shark at the Okinawa Aquarium.
