I never have, but I drove up on a guy that was slaying them couple years ago, about halfway between the entrance and the storage shed. He was using a blood colored banana jig with a green teaser and he was keeping everything he caught, most were short....I watched but lost interest and moved on out. Never saw him again

they have the same seasonal runs about the same times as the passes on the beach. always a few around but definitely some better times than others with spring to early summer usually best. watch the guys before the storage shed, theyre either catching spanish or pomps or arent fishing there

I had thought fish like pompano and speckled trout and the like would be fish I would have to Target while surf fishing but I just recently found out they get caught pretty often from the piers so I thought I would ask. Never seen anyone catch one myself but I have been in the middle of a Spanish mackerel/bluefish feeding frenzy on the SSP before. Strangely never caught another bluefish there after that experience either

What pompano at skyway? No way! Wait I think I wrote in detail about how to fish for them there... check the sticky. Lots of pompano at skyway.. SSP.. from the tollbooth to just past the trash area.
