Today was a blast! Got there and waited for the park to open it's gates, didn't take too long. Tons of small baitfish around the Piers, along with mackerel. The macks didn't bite anything I threw at em, gotcha plugs, spoons, crappie jigs, live bait. They were VERY finicky. Never caught any pinfish or grunts for the first time out there. Mangos everywhere under the Piers, the bridge, you name it. Caught 5 keeper mangos. Also caught a rabbit fish which I did take home. I hooked on a pompano but lost it due to boaters getting too close... And the speckled trouts were absolutely on FIRE! I lost count after 10. Caught a nice 16 inch summer flounder. Everything I caught was from live shrimp. Also caught some mullet in my net to finish the day off. Overall, an excellent day!

Very good day, better than usual out there. Was it crowded? I never have caught keeper mangoes there...lots of them, a shade too small.

Any one know if the sheepshead are still around? I slayed them there right before the shut down. I’m imagining they may have moved on by now though.

I have never fished sand key pier, is it usually this good! I've only fished this place 6 times so far, and I was only skunked once on my first trip there. It's a very good place!

Gonna go back again this Wednesday, same thing. Bought some more weights and pompano rigs, so hopefully I'll catch my first pomp!

Heck of a haul! the Rabbitfish was a surprise..Never seen one that close inshore.. I was definitely surprised. There was also two of them that followed a mangrove snapper that a person hooked up close to the pier, and were actually attacking it! I didn't know they were territorial like that.

I fished the jetties once, caught a few keeper grunts, small lanes and baby grouper. All on dead shrimp chunks.

I'm mostly interested in ambushing some pompano with my jigs, plus I haven't been there in over 40yrs....long drive for me

Never fished it, but it's definitely on the list. I've heard stories from people catching some mean pompano and Jack's there
