I like to fish the out going tide and find that the tides listed on the Web Tide Chart is about 2 hours slow. Does any one else have a problem with this or should I just figure slack tide is 2 hours later than what the chart says?

I find that the app I use is about 1.5-2 hours early compared to what I actually see at the North Pier.

Let put it this way.. the tide is a forecast based on the moon and it's very accurate for that. However the station you pick is somewhere else and on top of that wind affects the tide and to make thing worst, the tide might be moving out but water level might still rises.
So all of this add to what you see happening out there, use the same tide chart and just add in your own experiences and guess.

And throw in that the tide predictions across the Gulf have been running 6-12" higher than predicted for the last 4-5 years.

I use tides4fishing.com and yes the actual tides run about 1 1/2 to 2 hours behind what it says there. That tide prediction is actually for Mullet Key which is a little ways from the skyway. The winds very much influence the tide strength and time of the flip.

Speaking of which, we have the really strong full moon tides right now and the current is humming out there on the skyway. This evening it will be outgoing and will flip shortly after dark. Fishing will get really good as the current slows before the flip. I will be out there. Was out there Tuesday. Nothing biting biting till the current started to slow, then the bite was on fire. Mangoe limit, and released several more, 3 keeper Lanes too! Also caught a large jack that I gave away, released twoGags about 18 inches and several large pigfish and my 1st ever guitarfish! After the tide flip it was dead and I went home

tides4fishing.com/us/florida-gulf-coast/mullet-key-channel-skywaykeep in mind time, duration, and strength can vary depending on you location on the pier as well. Also North Pier and South Pier are quite aways apart. Full and New Moon tides will see harder currents. i used to fish Grouper Snapper on New and Full Moon periods, and Kings after first quarter till 3/4 moon. worked out well for me. Best of luck folks.

Depends on which tide you're tracking, if it's incoming of course it will be high at Mullet Key channel before it's high at the the piers, reverse that for falling tides. I only fish the SSP so I use the Redfish Point numbers, closer than Mullet channel. I also check Port Manatee numbers and split the difference

Thanks for the come backs. Seems every one pays attention to the tides. As I said I find I have better luck on out going tides BUT don't know why.
