We the people are not careful, not responsible, not mindful of rules, not mindful of others, won't stay sober, smoke massive amounts of herb, get rowdy, eat like pigs, and blame someone else... but these local gov'ts need money and they need it NOW!

I assume that includes Sand Key park and Ft. Desoto. They are county parks.

Concrete doesn't last forever, especially in saltwater. That pier is reaching it's lifespan

I'll bet a full day charter all of the above mentioned places will be packed the moment they are opened up. It will be like a holiday Weekend. People have been cooped up for a while and everyone will want to get out.

I think I will stick to the boat or the beach for fishing for a while, I anticipate that the piers will be chaos the first few days they are open. But I also bet the snapper fishing will be stupid easy the first few days. Grouper too.
I wonder if there is a silver lining here: Have Flipper and friends moved on since there have been no hooked macs to eat for weeks? How long before they show up again??

I'm curious also how the fish will respond. Have the peirs ever been closed for this long? Ive seen it mentioned on here that they have been closed to clean the rockpiles, but I assume thar wasn't for more than a week. Some closesurs for bad weather and joggers, but that was a short time also. They fishing is part of the enviroment out there. There hasn't been really anybody catching castnets full of bait, is there more avaiable now? Have more Sheeps moved in with no pressrue on them? Are the snapper thick and ready to chew? It would be instresting to be one of the first back out there, but you guys are right that will be chaos. As far as the Dolphins....I would bet the first Mack hooked gets taken by one. 😆 There too smart, they will know when the peir will be open before we do 😂😂

I doubt the closure will impact bait numbers much, they are out there by the millions anyway, cast netters probably don't have a big impact. Macs come and go at will. But sheepies, snapper & groupers: my bet is their numbers will be up significantly.

If and when the piers reopen entry fees should be waived indefinitely.....grouper season doesn't open til June 1st, but I can guarantee there will be 50 fishermen/women freelining pinfish over the rockpiles all day, everyday....That's why the gag fishing sucks out there now, too much info has been posted mostly by folks that don't fish there anymore and now the gags get hammered all year long

Well, I guess I'll be trying out sand key again next week. Definitely not on Monday though, I know for a fact it's gonna be packed.

You can go on pinellascounty.org, they're opening beaches back up. As for state parks, nobody knows yet

I agree, way to many stupid heads out there. At this point we all should know the things to do to avoid risk and protect ourselves and others. But some just don't get it. Example: I went to Lowes last weekend to get a few things. I needed help and found an employee. I stopped about 6 feet from him and asked my question. He pulled down his mask and moved toward me, while he gave me the answer. I slowly backed up and he continued moving towards me. I had to say something to him. I saw this same guy do the exact same thing to another customer a few minutes later. You would think they would have received training on this as well as learn by just about everything being said on every media platform out there. But I guess not.
