Just what we need another survey to result in another fish closure.

I think it’s dumb you can’t spearfish any species, as long as size and bag limits are followed are followed, what’s the difference

Most everyone I’ve talked to has seen a gradual downward trend in the number of Cobia caught over the last 20 years. Back when I first got to the gulf coast in 1997, the spring run of cobia was a big event. Lots of fish seen and caught off the Gulf piers. The last 5 years on the northern gulf it was almost a non- event. Maybe one or two caught of the Gulf State Park pier each spring where it used to be one to two or more caught each day during the run. . So something is going on with the cobia population

Definitely a shortage of catfish out there, FWC should definitely close the season on them before they go extinct.....

I have talked to FWC before and there was a problem with people spearing under sized cobia around the skyway along with illegal gill netting around the flats, that would contribute to the lack of fish numbers in that area (pre red tide days)

Seen plenty of baby snook that people spear at skyway. Report them every time. They usually hide them in the rocks until they are ready to take off.

The officer told me at the time the cobia were the issue.the gill netting was being done on the flats,we have found abandoned nets several years ago loaded full of dead fish, took awhile for them to get caught, all they got was a fine.

Too teenage kids tried to wrap the snook in a towel as I drive by. NP by the entrance.

Back when I bowfished a lot I had lots of opportunities to shoot Cobia but never did as I was on the old Skyway road and figured I would never get them anyway with all those pilings around, plus it's hard to judge how long they are. I just shot monster Sheepshead instead

Should report them for spearfishing at the skyway not supposed to be with 100 yds of a fishing pier.

So something is going on with the cobia population with 22 million people in the state we are lucky to have pinfish, my home of 50 yrs has the largest fishery in the world with 750,000 people and we have over fishing problems, just to many people in the world, and Florida is the #1 place to be in the winter
