Went to SSP for first time since early this summer. Weather was nice with light winds. Pier had a moderate number of people though I had to move once when a couple of guys parked right next to me and fished right where my car was. There was plenty of room, not sure why they had to crowd me.
Started around 130pm and had 2 mackerel within the first hour...both 15 inches. Caught an 11.5 inch bluefish which was too short. Caught a wide variety of smaller fish...pins, piggies, couple of lizards, and lane snapper. What was interesting is that all were caught on the cordell spoon! Did not see much else caught...some sheepshead, a small grouper and pins. A couple of other guys were using spoons but they caught no macks...they were surprised when I told them about the other fish hitting a spoon...my guess is that they used a different type of spoon.

You caught a pigfish on a spoon? Yes, a few and several pinfish. About a third of those caught were snagged as my spoon was being jigged with my retrieve, so it was hitting bottom. Caught 16 pins and pigs, all released as they were on the small side. I used no bait at all.

Glad you came home with a couple of fish. Crazy all your fish were caught on the Cordell spoon. You also caught my bait bucket on that spoon last week.

Finding out that it is one of the best lures in my tackle box! Have hardly used the sabiki in recent trips. Appears that lure can catch bait too.

The CC spoon is a valuable lure. I also use it to catch whiting and trout as well. I'm down to about 30 packs of spoons....so will need to stock back up again. A week and a half ago at Naples pier...I hooked about 30 Mack's and had 6 cutoffs. (Dolphins got half my macks.)
