Hooked a big one on the ssp today, myself! I just set up by the second bathroom and was using the sabiki for greenbacks. I caught a sheepshead in the process, and while untangling him from the rig, he flipped and drove a gold hook into my finger! I tried to get it out or run it on through, but no luck. Having just arrived I did not want to leave so just wrapped it up and kept going. I ended up getting the sheepie, a mackerel, a large grunt, and caught a bunch of short snapper. I finally had to leave and went to the clinic to have the hook removed. Mrs. Flbandit was not real happy that I stayed on the bridge with a hook in my finger, so I'm kind of in the doghouse. Oh well, the fish were biting, what can I say!

I was just looking for that same thing Blacktip. Here it is in 3 photos: www.artofmanliness.com/articles/how-to-remove-a-fish-hook-from-your-finger/I wouldn't do this for a big hook, but the barb on a sabiki hook shouldn't cause too much damage. Important that you put that down-pressure on the back of the hook. That lines up the barb with the wound channel it already made on the way in. Keeping in mind that I equate sabiki with tiny hooks, and I do realize there are mackerel sized sabikis. Hope it wasn't one of those. Bandit - what method did the clinic use to get it out? Assume they hit you with some lidocane and then just pulled it with forceps.

The Doc gave me a shot of something, did a small cut with a scalpel, then pulled it out. I ended up with 2 stitches, a tetanus shot, and some antibiotics. I tried to run it through right after it happened, but the hook was bending so bad I was worried it would break off. It didn't hurt that bad once I wrapped it up, so I figured I'd deal with it later.

I remember that last time I took out a Hook from someone at Fort Desoto Gulf Pier. He gave Me a 6 Pack & 2 Subway Subs. He also said that I could have His Wife for Hooking Him. No Stiches were given after I poured some Guys Vodka on his Wound.

Keep the hookout or a pair of needlenose plyers handy to help with getting larger fish off of a sabiki rigs. You are definitely a diehard. I don't know if I could have been able to continue fishing if that happened to me.

I've pulled at least 100+ hooks out of people while fishing. And a few out of myself as well. Heavy leader or line and just rip it fast. Pretty painless, fast...cheap. I have pulled hooks upwards of 5/0. Only problems I normally have are when two trebles are deeply in embedded Sabikis are easy to do with good pliers...just RIP it hard and fast. Never has a biki that didn't come out easy. Since the hook size is rarely over a 4.
