Any good beaches around here to catch some whiting and pompano, tried Ft De Soto but only one small whiting. Also noticed no Sandfleas on the beach there, so figure not the best spot.

People keep telling me they’re here but I have been in several long expeditions to find them and have struck out every time. Tried shrimp, fish bites and jigs. There’s plenty of proof in YouTube that they are here but for me they seem quite elusive.

That's the hardest part of fishing for pompano is finding them. You can find & catch a limit one day and come back the very next day and not catch a single one. You usually wanna try the bridges/passes around here.

John's Pass has been fantastic for me all summer for both whiting and Pompano. Don't fish in the pass, fish the beach just outside the pass. Its only good around high tide. Cast out to just before the first sand bar. Don't use anything bigger than a 1/0 hook with just half a shrimp threaded onto the hook. I have not been out there to fish in about a month so don't know if the Pomps are still there, but I went out there for a walk last week in really calm conditions, and I could see tons of small whiting In the wash, so I'm willing to bet the bigger ones are still there too. Think I'm going out there Thursday Morning around sunrise.
