Tons of bait and no macks to be found. Smaller one on top and better size one below them.
Mangrove was bitting really well. Got my limit easy without fishing my snapper hole because someone was there. So I got some bait and went somewhere else to fish the rock pile for some snapper and grouper. While fishing for snapper, I think a big ole grouper took my bait and ran slowly into the rock pile. No way to stop him. Saw the person who was sitting at my hole left but I continue fishing my rock pile a little more because I was still getting good bite.
It was time to go check out my snapper hole. Came there and saw another old guy with 5 rods out on the other side of my fishing hole. He also have a chair and another rod sitting at my hole. >.<....
So 5 rods out on the backside of my hole and he is fishing there and left his chair and another rod in my hole. 0.o
So I just catch bait and fish a piling close to my snapper hole and pulled up a snapper. He quickly run to his rod and chair and put on bait and started fishing. I just put my fish away and go to another spot. Picked up the rest of my snappers at a nearby place. Lucky there weren't that many people on the pier so I can basically pick out another spot east. In the end, he didn't catch a single one. He left after a couple of hours later. :-p
Fishing anywhere is based on how you adapt to the condition and to the place and to the fish. You could be fishing for fish in a barrel(my snapper hole) but if people keep on fishing it, the fish get smarter and smarter. At first these people would get 3-4 fishes each time they go to my snapper hole but now a day they would only get 1 or 0. The fish got smart really fast after a while. These people still go there because that's the only place they were able to pick up some fish or saw me pick up fish. Instead of learning to adapt to the condition and the fish, they just do what they are so used to and get lucky enough to pick up a fish or two. So if you want to be like these put and hope luck will be on your side that day, keep on doing exactly what you do out there everyday or you can try different things and hone into the one that work. In the end, the new thing you figure out will have a much greater return in investment than you ever wanted.
(I can probably go out there and limit out on snappers most days! Even the really bad day!)
There will always be people asking where is the best spot or what tide is the best to catch fish.. etc...
To me, there are no best tide. There are no best spot. It is the combination of everything. You need to learn how to make the most out of the condition. There are some spots that I would fish if the tide stop or slow down. Each with different technique. I adjust to the tide and the fish. I learn the fish behavior and then try different things to see what they would react to and eat the bait. The past 2-3 months that is what I been doing, since my snapper spot is now on lock down, I finally figure a different spot and a different way of catching snapper easier. Even though trying to figure out new spot and way to catch, I always bring home at least a snapper or two before trying new things.
As you can tell, I put in the time to find another way of catching the snapper at another place. I can tell you that if I were to go to my snapper spot, I would still limit out because I have already put my time at this spot. Learning all the tricks I can to get them to bite. These bag of tricks you will not get if you fish the same way every time and don't try new things. Remember sometime the devil is in the details.
Learn the fish behavior and test your theory out on them each trip you take out there. Remember fish are like human, they do not want to do work to eat. If I am watching a really good show, I do not want to get up to get a drink or food. I rather have someone bring it to me and I definally do not want to chase down my food if I don't have to! The easy one with a broken leg will be the one that I would chase if I have to chase my food down.
Fish and human are lazy ass creature. ;p
