Made it down to the SSP with my 12 year old and 5 year old (12 year old won't touch the bait or fish.... yet he was the one who pushed to go...). Lines in the water around 8:20pm and we stayed until 10:45pm.
Was fishing down by the bathroom before you get to the end. Incoming tide that had some decent movement (started with 2 oz. lead and eventually went down to 1 oz.).
First drop with a live shrimp pulled up a 12.5" mango.
Ended up catching 4 mangos total, only 2 keepers, but both were nice and thick (12.5" & 12"). Also caught 2 grunts, 1 pin, and 2 sand perch.
With the incoming tide, tried free-lining for gags between the pilings, but not even a bite.....
Was the first time fishing that specific part of the pier and we had an unusually high number of instances of snagging the bottom/structure and breaking off.... need to reload on some lead.....

There's a ton of lead laying around those pilings...I was out there from 7-11 am, caught 4 macks and the usual half dozen lizards, 4 guys were all over the Tears snapper hole catching nothing.....

I have fished that part of the pier with shadowxmas a couple of years ago. We encountered more snags there than any other portion the pier. Did not fish that section again.

Don't know for sure but seems like the pilings around the bait shop have the most bottom crap....and the most fish

Every single day when I am out there people hog that hole now. Beats me... when most of them can't catch anything there. I usually give snappers away after I get my limit from that hole in like 10 mins... If only they leave that hole alone...

ChathamAngler, funny 12 year old pushed to go but would not touch bait or fish. Guess he/she just wanted out of the house doing but not doing something with Dad. Glad you got a couple of fish. Seabird and I fished near there once and kept getting snagged and lost some terminal tackle. Divers would have a field day in that area and think of the money they could make selling the recovered terminal tackle.
