They are out there... Just don't bite everywhere and everytime. Just got to keep trying and keep casting. Ask Navy, he will be casting all day and moving around all day and then in 1 hr, he will catch 90% of his fish.

Well there you have it folks, seems there's only one person that knows how to catch fish. I suppose we should all stop trying....I call B.S.

I did not fish Skyway this weekend. Fished Naples pier yesterday from 3 till sunset. Got 5-6 macks in the clouded up water from the winds and the front. Hope water conditions clear up.

Fished the south pier on Saturday morning. Saw 3 Mack’s caught. Moved to pass a grille near the fishing dock. Got broke off by a Mack and saw two people catch a 22in and a 20in Mack. One was on a gotcha. And other was on a free lined shrimp

No fish at the pier this weekend last weekend lots of mackerel. The radiational cooling spooked them good. Looks like an April run this year.

Given the bad fishing at the Skyway, now leaning towards Ft. DeSoto tomorrow a.m.

SSP 3-10-2019 Brian caught some very large mackerel 8-10 using a white spoon, his own sold at the bait store , I used a silver spoon and didn't get a bite. I switched to a Pompano jig with pink teasers on top and bottom and caught 8 Ladyfish, 1 Mackerel and 1 Pompano. Lost a big bite and 3 large Ladyfish due to frayed line. best bite was 3-5 pm before the tide change, didn't see anybody else catching much. Desoto was dead except for Sheepshead by the rocks using mud crabs.

I went to the NSP Friday afternoon and into the evening. I agree with everyone else that the cold front really shut the bite down. Tried casting different spoons from different spots on the pier for a couple hours with no result. Did manage about a 12 inch Sea Bass which is the biggest one I ever caught down here. (Used to get bigger ones up around Cape Cod years ago) - good eats! Kept him on ice overnight. Saturday morning went out in the yak over by the Gandy again. It was slow but I did manage a pretty good mixed bag for the table to go with the Sea Bass - about a 25 inch gator trout (released), a white trout (first one I ever caught, iced right away was pretty good eats), a nice Flounder (always good eats!), a couple barely legal mangroves (yum), and a barely legal sheepshead,- on to the trash - about 10 spiny puffers, a big lady fish pushing 25 inches, and some big Jack moved through and snapped me off about three times Sunday morning rolled over to Madeira Beach as I heard they have been getting the Pomps out there. Threw a Doc Goofy and had a Pompano rig out with some shrimp. Nothing but Pin fish. So I threw a Pin out on my surf rod, within 5 minutes about a 30 inch Dusky Shark, 30 minutes later - a 20 inch blacktip, and then little while later about a 25 inch Bonnet head. Not really into catching sharks, but when boredom kicks in..... plus all the tourists out there really loved it!

Probably a good report. The water temps were still in the high 60s on Sunday, however today they shot up to 75 and are currently at 72 from what the NOAA site readings are listing. Those macks want that temperature in the low to mid 70s. Here's the link if interested. tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/physocean.html?id=8726520

That's an interesting chart snapperx, never realized water temps could fluctuate that much so fast

Lots of factors dictate temps for example still water on shallow water with dark bottom.rock.grassy. muddy bottom will heat pretty quick A slow moving tide will slow it down some and spread it out. A strait sand bottom will reflect the sun and wont absorb as much if any heat. Deep water with a fast flowing tide there wont be much change. However this may change if a natural spring opens up then the flow will carry and swirl the water over a distance

Was out there this morning from 8-10, caught 2 on spoons, guy next to me got a dozen or so on a crappie jig, dropped them on the pier and kicked them back in, several in the 16-17" range. Folks were yelling at him for not giving them away, he ignored them and kept fishing..ha. Got cloudy and dark, water got glassy so I left

Got there right after you left around 10. Was that the old timer in the front kicking the macks back in? Bite turned on around 4 and lasted about 45 minutes then it was over. Landed a 24, 17 and missed several hard strikes on Clark spoon. Huge bait schools showed up around 3:45 and stuck around until about 6.

Wow that sucks man i share with anybody that wants fish i dont eat many but i know there are hungry people that like to so i share people are all diffrent and have there own idea of right an wrong to kick dead or critically injured fish with mortal wounds overboard to rot an not be used is just wrong if they dont like them share them or take care to make shure they will swim away when released. Shame on those who wasted good food an took away from others enjoyment and restock of resource.

Shame on those who wasted good food an took away from others enjoyment and restock of resource. I recall from reading fishing regs, that if you wish to catch and release...treat the fish as gently as possible with a wet or damp rag. Try to minimize damage from the hook. Kicking a fish is showing disrespect to your quarry and other people around you.
