Up until two years ago, my dad and I had been coming down to the Redington beach area almost every year and fished off of the Redington long pier for nearly 30 years. We had gotten pretty comfortable and competent catching trout, flounder, Spanish mackerel, and a few other species off of it. Last year to our disappointment, the long pier sounds like it was shut down for good. So we went exploring: we tried DeSoto but found that the dolphins ruled the piers. We finally tried the skyway and did catch one small grouper and Spanish mackerel. It sounds like in March the common fish to target are sheepshead, Spanish mackerel, and if you have the right setup, Kings. Any other eaters anyone would recommend targeting? I had read somewhere that you can catch snappers at night off of the skyway? Any incite would be greatly appreciated. I will be down from March 13-20... My dad will be making an extra week or so of it until end of March.

Yes, snappers, pompano, trout... anything you will be catching at Redington will be there.
Snappers are under the bridge next to the columns, also the rock piles. (Look in the sticky to find them.)
pompano near the toll booth.

Appreciate it! I am familiar with the structure out in front, I did catch one small grouper last year off of one of them. Thanks for the tip!
