Got to SSP about 845 am. Hit up the first bridge on the incoming with some pomp jigs to no avail.
Paid pier pass and started in shallows. 5 min in and I got my first 2 macks at 23" and 22". Stopped at a few places working towards the end. Very slow action Most of the fish came at the end on West corner and on the Channel side.
There was a car being loaded onto a tow truck flatbed.. I guess he ran into the very end of the pier...causing bumper and hood damage and setting off the air bags. (Glad no pier damage)
Cold front brought winds...started cooling off.
Ended the day with 41 macks. Not what I was hoping for.
Driving home...I received messages from Naples pier that the macks were hitting hard. Will hit Naples pier tomorrow and hope they are still biting.
Tight lines

41 macks is pretty good for a slow day! Wish my slow days were that good. That's some hard fishing for 41 though. Though if I had gotten to fish the location that I had wanted to (end left corner or standing on curb at end)..I most likely would have caught 15-20 more. That has been the hot spot. It's been hard fishing lately. The minute I start catching now, people are right there throwing over me. The weighted rigs and squid spoon are typically thrown straight out. As my jigging spoons are thrown on angles. The key is staying in the strike zone. Which typically is just outside wall of bait. Pulling at an angle keeps you in the strike zone longer. A lot of my fish at the Skyway is hooked within 10 feet of bridge side.

Wanted to thank the regulars for posting on this to help out of towners know what's moving around. I'll be down next week Wednesday for a week and am really excited to catch some Mack's and hopefully get into a king or two while I'm at it.
